How much do you earn?
- Fixed salary: ₡380,000 a month (guaranteed, no matter what)
- With commissions and overtime, you can earn between ₡415,000 and ₡460,000 a month
- Social security (CCSS), December aguinaldo (a legally required 13th-month bonus), paid vacation, INS work-injury insurance
- No fumigation experience needed — the company trains you from scratch
The ₡380,000 is your fixed pay each month before deductions. Social security (CCSS) withholds about 10.83% (~₡41,000), leaving you with roughly ₡339,000 take-home. Commissions and overtime are added on top.
What about biweekly pay? Base salary only: ~₡169,400 net. With commissions and overtime: between ₡185,000 and ₡205,000 net every two weeks.
What do you need?
- A B1 driver's license held for at least 3 years (a newly issued license is not accepted)
- Availability to work different shifts: morning, afternoon, or night, as needed
- No fumigation experience needed — the company provides full training. Experience in carpentry or roof maintenance is especially valued, as well as experience in painting, installations, cleaning, repairs, or other home service work
- This is physical, outdoor work: it requires working at heights (roofs and ceilings), climbing ladders and scaffolding, carrying equipment weighing up to 20 kg (44 lb), bending, and walking for several hours a day
- Being responsible, punctual, and treating customers well
Working at heights and physical demands
A large part of the job happens on roofs and ceilings: many pests (like termites, wasps, or rodents) are controlled right there. That is why the role requires good physical condition and comfort working at heights.
- Safely climbing onto roofs, ceilings, ladders, and scaffolding
- Inspecting and treating pests in high areas of homes and businesses
- Carrying and handling fumigation equipment throughout the workday
- The company provides protective equipment and training to work safely at heights
- Experience in carpentry or roof maintenance is a big advantage
What documents do you need to bring?
1 Resume (with your information and previous work experience)
2 A current criminal background check (issued by the OIJ, Costa Rica's judicial police, in person or online) — required because technicians enter customers' homes and businesses
3 A copy of your B1 driver's license (both sides)
Guachipelín de Escazú
This is where the workday starts and ends
Having your own motorcycle is a plus for getting around — The company has its own fleet of vehicles for the job itself, so the motorcycle is not for daily work tasks. It is so you can get to the Guachipelín de Escazú office at any hour, since shifts can start early, in the afternoon, or at night, and public buses do not always run at those times. It is not required, but it is highly recommended.
What will you do on the job?
- Fumigate homes, businesses, restaurants, offices, and factories
- Climb onto roofs and ceilings to inspect and treat pests
- Apply products safely (the company teaches you how)
- Provide good customer service and explain the treatment
- Fill out reports for each service performed
- Take care of work equipment and complete the day's route
