Social impact program
As part of our commitment to the community, EcoPlagas sets aside a limited number of spots for households facing economic hardship that are dealing with pest conditions that affect health and sanitation. The service is offered at no cost to the household: the cost is covered by the company as a donation. This is not a commercial service.
We aim to help improve the living conditions of families who cannot afford fumigation and are living with infestations that put their health at risk.
Who this program is for
The program is aimed at low-income households that meet both of the following:
- Facing a situation of vulnerability or extreme poverty (per the evidence described below).
- Experiencing pest conditions (cockroaches, rodents, ants, etc.) that affect the health and sanitation of the household.
The company evaluates each request individually. Inclusion in the program is at the company's discretion and does not constitute an enforceable right.
Requirements and evidence
To be considered for the program, applicants must provide evidence that allows the company to assess both the household's socioeconomic situation and the presence of pests affecting health and sanitation.
Evidence of low income or extreme poverty (examples; not an exhaustive list):
- A letter or report from a social welfare organization, NGO, church, or local committee familiar with the household's situation.
- Documentation from social assistance programs (IMAS, Avancemos, non-contributory pensions, etc.) confirming vulnerable status.
- A report or certificate from a social worker (clinic, school, municipality, etc.).
- A sworn statement before a notary or other authority, supported by documentation or testimony the company can consider.
Evidence of unsanitary pest conditions (examples):
- Photos or video showing the presence of pests (cockroaches, rodents, ants, etc.) in living areas, kitchens, or bedrooms.
- A written description of the infestation (where it is seen, how long it has been going on, whether it poses a risk to children or older adults).
- A reference from a health professional or local authority who has observed or addressed health issues related to pests in the household.
The company may request additional information or a site visit before deciding whether to provide the service as part of the program.
Company discretion
Accepting or declining each request is entirely at the company's discretion. EcoPlagas is not required to explain a denial or to provide the service to everyone who meets the requirements. The company may prioritize based on available resources, geographic area, severity of the case, and internal criteria.
This program does not create an enforceable right for the applicant. Submitting documentation does not guarantee that the service will be assigned.
Program limits
- Maximum of 5 services per month across the entire program (not per household).
- Total value donated by the company: up to ₡200.000 (CRC) combined per month, based on the commercial value of the services assigned.
Once these limits are reached, no additional services are assigned until the following period. The company reserves the right to adjust these limits without prior notice.
