Districts we serve

  • Colón: Ciudad Colón, the canton seat, with its downtown, housing developments and gated communities toward Route 27. This is where we work most in the canton.
  • Tabarcia: to the south, higher and cooler, on the slopes of the hills, with farms and scattered homes.
  • Piedras Negras: to the west, rural, toward Puriscal.
  • Guayabo, Picagres, Jaris and Quitirrisí: coordinated with Ciudad Colón appointments.

On the same route we cover Santa Ana, Brasil and Escazú.

What people ask us for most in Mora

  1. Rats and mice, with bait stations and regular bait changes.
  2. Termites, with termiticide on the wood, ceiling treatment and injection.
  3. Thermal fogging (smoke) for cockroaches and mosquitoes.

Termite treatment is requested in Mora considerably more than in the rest of the country, and it comes down to the climate and the way homes are built.

Between the Central Valley and the Pacific

Mora lies on the western edge of the Central Valley, where the land starts dropping toward the Pacific slope. Ciudad Colón sits lower than Escazú and, like Santa Ana, has a marked dry season from December to April, with wind and parched soil. Tabarcia and the southern districts climb toward the hills and are cooler and wetter. Piedras Negras and Picagres, toward Puriscal, are pasture, farms and streams.

Within a few kilometers the canton goes from a dry climate to a damp mountain climate, which is why Mora has two kinds of termites and two kinds of rodent problem.

Termites: why they are requested more here

  • Drywood termites in Ciudad Colón. Drywood termites do not need contact with the soil: they live inside beams, frames, floors, ceilings and furniture. The dry climate of the lower canton favors them, and country homes with pergolas, terraces, wooden ceilings and frames give them places to settle. The sign is a small pile of very fine sawdust, like ground coffee, that comes back after you clean it.
  • Subterranean termites in Tabarcia and the high ground. With more rain and damp soil, subterranean termites climb from the ground through mud tubes into posts, fences, wooden sheds and the base of the house.

The two are treated differently. Drywood termites with termiticide applied to the wood, in the ceiling or by injection into the galleries. Subterranean termites by cutting off their path from the soil. The inspection is free and determines which one it is. See termites and woodworm, which is sometimes mistaken for termites.

Rats and mice from pasture and empty lots

Rats and mice top the list of what people ask us for in Mora. In Tabarcia, Piedras Negras and Picagres, homes border pasture, crops or streams, and field mice come in when the lot is cleared, at harvest time or when the May rains begin. In Ciudad Colón, developments next to empty lots or construction sites take in the rodents displaced when earthmoving starts.

The service is perimeter-based: locked, anchored and labeled bait stations with scheduled bait changes, plus sealing entry points in walls, baseboards and pipes. Details on rodent control.

Thermal fogging for cockroaches and mosquitoes

The third request is thermal fogging: a fine insecticide mist that fills the space and reaches cracks, ceilings and foliage where spraying cannot. Indoors it is used for cockroaches spread through a house or business. Outdoors, for mosquitoes: with the May rains, the large patios and gardens of Ciudad Colón collect water in gutters, flowerpots, tires and neglected pools, and mosquitoes breed within days. The mist reaches the shade where adults rest and is combined with removing standing water.

How a visit works in Mora

  • Booked together with Santa Ana. Ciudad Colón is reached by Route 27 or the road through Santa Ana and Brasil, close to our office in Guachipelín de Escazú. Mora appointments are arranged in the same block as Santa Ana.
  • Tabarcia and Piedras Negras go together. They are mountain roads and are coordinated in the same slot. When you book, give your district, not just "Ciudad Colón".
  • Gated communities with prior authorization. Entry is coordinated with the management; when booking we ask for the resident’s name and house number.
  • Pets and garden. Before the visit, move animals out of the area, pick up food bowls, and let us know if there are horses or a corral.
  • Who shows up. A trained, uniformed technician in a marked vehicle, green-label product, photo report. 30-day check once the plan is complete, with conditions.

The pests we treat most in Mora

  • Termites: drywood in Ciudad Colón, subterranean on the high ground.
  • Rats and mice: pasture, streams and construction sites.
  • Cockroaches: spread through the house, treated with fogging.
  • Mosquitoes: patios and gardens with standing water.

If you are not sure what you are dealing with, the pest guide lists the signs of each one.

How soon can you get to Mora?
The date is confirmed on WhatsApp in under an hour. Our office is in Guachipelín de Escazú, and Ciudad Colón is reached by Route 27 or through Santa Ana and Brasil; Tabarcia and Piedras Negras add mountain roads and are coordinated in the same block. We work 24 hours a day, every day.
Why are there so many termites in Mora?
Because there are two climates in one canton. In Ciudad Colón, the marked dry season favors drywood termites, which live inside beams, frames, ceilings and furniture. In Tabarcia and the high ground, moisture favors subterranean termites, which climb from the soil into posts, fences and baseboards. Homes with lots of wood in pergolas, terraces and ceilings give them places to settle.
Do you charge for a termite inspection in Mora?
No, the inspection is free. The technician checks ceilings, frames, floors, furniture and baseboards, determines whether it is drywood termites, subterranean termites or woodworm, and puts the scope of treatment in writing in the quote.
