Districts we serve
We work in all six districts of Paraíso:
- Santiago: neighborhoods and housing developments; the district where we work most in the canton.
- Paraíso: the canton seat, with shops, the market and older neighborhood homes.
- Llanos de Santa Lucía: dense residential area between downtown Paraíso and Cartago.
- Orosi: the valley, with the town, coffee farms, rivers and hot springs.
- Cachí, by the reservoir on the Reventazón, and Birrisito.
On the same route we cover downtown Cartago, El Tejar de El Guarco and Oreamuno.
What people ask us for most in Paraíso
- Rats and mice, with bait stations and regular bait changes.
- Thermal fogging (smoke) for cockroaches and mosquitoes.
- Termites, with termiticide on the wood, ceiling treatment and injection.
The first two are requested in Paraíso considerably more than in the rest of the country. Both are explained by the terrain: the canton is surrounded by coffee farms and crossed by rivers that flow down to the Reventazón.
From the Cartago valley to the Orosi valley
Downtown Paraíso sits on the eastern edge of the Cartago valley and shares its climate: cold, fog and long drizzle from May to November. To the south, the road drops into the Orosi valley, lower, more sheltered and warmer, where the Grande de Orosi river and its tributaries run toward the Reventazón and the Cachí reservoir.
The slopes of both valleys are covered in coffee, and between coffee, pasture and riverbank, homes are rarely far from vegetation. That mix of moisture, running water and crops explains the three pests we treat most here.
Rats and mice between coffee and river
Coffee plantations give rats and mice food, shade and ground covered in leaf litter. Riverbanks and irrigation ditches give them water and a path. When the coffee harvest arrives, or when the plants are pruned or the undergrowth is cleared, the population living in the crop moves into the nearest homes, storerooms and sheds.
That is why in Santiago, Llanos de Santa Lucía and Orosi the work starts outside: locked bait stations around the perimeter, anchored and labeled, with scheduled bait changes. Inside, we check the attic, under the sink and pipe entry points, because a mouse can fit through a gap smaller than a centimeter. Details on rodent control and rat poison.
Thermal fogging: cockroaches and mosquitoes
What Paraíso requests more than the rest of the country is thermal fogging: the insecticide comes out as a fine mist that fills the space and reaches cracks, ceilings, the underside of furniture and foliage where spraying cannot.
It is used for two things. Indoors, for cockroaches spread through a house, shop or storeroom, especially in older buildings with wooden ceilings and walls. Outdoors, for mosquitoes: in Orosi and Cachí, lower and warmer, the river, ditches and standing water in basins, tires and gutters breed mosquitoes easily in the rainy season, and the mist reaches the shade and foliage where adults rest during the day.
For the application, doors and windows are closed, food is covered and pets, fish tanks and indoor plants are taken out.
Termites in homes with wood
The third request is termites. Paraíso and Orosi have many wooden homes or homes with wooden ceilings, floors and frames, and the local moisture keeps that wood damp much of the year. Treatment depends on where they are: termiticide on exposed wood, ceiling treatment, or injection into beams, frames and floors when the galleries run inside.
The early sign is wood that sounds hollow, paint that blisters or mud tubes on the baseboard. Does my house have termites? lists the signs you can see from outside.
How a visit works in Paraíso
- Booked together with Cartago. Paraíso is east of downtown Cartago; appointments are arranged in the same block as Cartago and El Guarco, along the Florencio del Castillo highway route.
- Orosi and Cachí go together. Going down into the valley adds driving time from downtown Paraíso, so those appointments are coordinated in the same slot. Give your district when you book.
- Outdoor work in the morning. Stations and patio treatments are done early: the afternoon drizzle washes the product away.
- Who shows up. A trained, uniformed technician in a marked vehicle, green-label product, photo report. 30-day check once the plan is complete, with conditions.

Frequently asked questions about pest control in Paraíso
- How much does it cost to fumigate a house in Paraíso?
- The price is the published one, the same as in Cartago: house up to 100 m² ₡39,900, up to 200 m² ₡49,900 and over 200 m² ₡59,900, VAT included. For rats, 4 stations from ₡48,900 or 8 from ₡79,900. Termites come with a free inspection.
- Do you serve Orosi and Cachí?
- Yes. Orosi and Cachí are farther than downtown Paraíso because the road goes down into the valley, so those appointments are grouped in the same route block. The date is confirmed on WhatsApp in under an hour and we work 24 hours a day, every day.
- What is the most common pest in Paraíso?
- Rats and mice, because of the coffee farms and rivers around the homes. Next come thermal fogging for cockroaches and mosquitoes, and termites in homes with wood. Santiago is where we work most, followed by downtown Paraíso, Llanos de Santa Lucía and Orosi.
- What is thermal fogging and when is it worth it?
- It is an application in the form of a fine mist that fills the space and reaches cracks, ceilings and foliage where spraying cannot. It makes sense when cockroaches are spread throughout the house or business, and outdoors for mosquitoes in patios and gardens. During the application the house is closed, food is covered and pets are taken out. The technician confirms in the quote whether your case needs it.
