Is it safe to fumigate the house if I have dogs or cats?
- Yes, with green-label product and a one-hour re-entry time.
- Dogs and cats stay out of the treated area during the application and come back one hour later.
- Birds, fish and reptiles are covered or moved out of the room.
- Rat bait goes inside closed stations: pets cannot reach it.
Which product is used and why it matters
EcoPlagas works with green-label product, the lowest-toxicity category in the Ministry of Health registry, and applies it where the pest lives (cracks, hinges, baseboards, drains) instead of spraying the air. Less product, in the right place, which is why re-entry is one hour.
What to do with each pet
- Dogs and cats: out of the treated area during the application; they can stay in the yard or in a room that is not being treated. They come back one hour later.
- Birds: they are the most sensitive. Take them out of the room and cover the cage; they come back once the room has been aired out.
- Fish and reptiles: turn off the aquarium air pump and cover the tank; move the terrarium out if possible.
- Food bowl, water and bed: put away or cover them beforehand, and wash them afterward if they were left in the area.
Fleas: the pet and the house go together
Bathing the dog without treating the house is a waste of time: adult fleas are 5% of the problem, the rest is in the floor, the couch and the animal's bed. The visit covers that and is coordinated with the vet's bath or spot-on treatment on the same day. Details in fleas and ticks.
Rats and poison with pets
Bait is never left loose: it goes inside closed stations, numbered and dated, that a dog or cat cannot open. And they are placed around the perimeter and in the attic, not on the kitchen floor.

What if my cat licks the floor?
